Overview

The Greenhouse Barbecue, nestled inside Hotel Blue Diamond on EVR Periyar Salai in Chennai, offers a refreshing take on vegetarian dining. Carving a niche as one of the few pure veg barbecue spots in the city, it serves as a haven for vegetarians craving smoky, grilled flavors often associated with non-veg cuisine.

From the moment you step in, the ambiance strikes a balance between modern comfort and casual warmth. The space is neither crowded nor claustrophobic, creating an inviting environment that encourages you to savor each course at a relaxed pace. This thoughtful design complements the restaurant’s focus on quality and experience rather than rush.

The highlight of The Greenhouse Barbecue lies in its diverse and innovative starters. The grilled paneer, mushroom, and crispy corn have garnered consistent praise for their fresh flavors and perfect charring. Beyond the grill, the live counter featuring pani puri and chaat adds a dynamic element, while cold salads, sushi, and an intriguing array of curries and noodles enrich the main course offerings. Unlike many barbecue restaurants where the grill overshadows other dishes, here the main course stands robust, often matching or exceeding the appeal of the starters.

Desserts at The Greenhouse Barbecue deserve a special mention. The selection is meticulous and varied: from the classic rasmalai and gulab jamun to innovative cakes and mousses, each dessert strikes the right harmony of sweetness and texture, providing a satisfying end to the meal.

A notable feature is the weekly changing menu, which keeps the experience fresh and encourages repeat visits. Seasonal themes, such as the mango week, showcase the kitchen’s creativity by weaving unique ingredients and flavors seamlessly into both starters and mains.

The service complements the overall dining experience, with attentive staff who guide guests through the menu and offer recommendations, enhancing the guest interaction without being intrusive.

Targeting vegetarians and those seeking an innovative plant-based barbecue experience, The Greenhouse Barbecue blends tradition with novelty. It appeals to food enthusiasts wanting to explore vegetarian dishes beyond the usual repertoire, all within a well-curated and comfortable setting in Chennai’s Purasaiwakkam neighborhood.

While some diners note that not every dish hits the mark, the majority of offerings are flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, ensuring a memorable visit. The pricing reflects its positioning as a premium vegetarian barbecue restaurant, making it an ideal choice for a special meal or a unique culinary exploration.

In summary, The Greenhouse Barbecue stands out as a pioneering vegetarian barbecue restaurant in Chennai, combining a carefully crafted menu with a welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and a commitment to freshness and variety. An encounter here is both a culinary and sensory journey worth taking at least once.

This probably might be the only pure veg BBQ in chennai Veg lovers this is a paradise for us Starting from grills to their desserts the options they had was mind blowing Although not all dishes tasted great but most of them was lip smacking. Crispy corn , achari paneer , pineapple, soups, Briyani, pasta and rasamalai had me totally I would say this is overpriced for only veg Rs.1050 per person But definitely a one time visit

Green House Barbecue is a delightful vegetarian restaurant with a great selection of starters and desserts. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. One thing I really liked was that the menu changes every week, which keeps things interesting for repeat visits. The starters were the highlight of the meal for me—each dish was fresh, flavorful, and well-presented. The main course offered plenty of options, but I found myself more impressed by the variety of starters and the delicious desserts. The desserts, in particular, were a perfect way to end the meal, with just the right balance of sweetness. If you’re looking for a place that offers unique and tasty vegetarian dishes with a focus on starters and desserts, Green House Barbecue is definitely worth a try!

Well the concept of pure veg Barbeque might sound odd to most, but yet there is an absolutely sure market for this. I visited Greenhouse Barbeque for lunch. The service was good and the ambience decent. It wasn't too crowded or claustrophobic. They don't force you to buy bottled water or to take drinks. The barbeque was good, and had good number of varieties like Barbeque nation. In other barbeques I have had visited, the highlight used to be the grilled items and they you just glance at the main course before rushing to desserts. Here the main course is as good, if not better than the grill. There was a live counter with pani puri, chat and the main course had cold salads, sushi, curries, noodles and desserts. We had went during Mango week and a lot of items had a blend of mango in them. Pricey at 1200 per person but definitely a great place to have vegetarian grill and food.

This restaurant has a distinction for being serving Veg cuisine in barbeque. Starters had namely panneer, mushroom, brocolli, pineapple, apple, crispy corn, a crunchy fried starter made of chana flour, cheese potato. Only panneer barbeque, mushroom barbeque and crispy corn were good. Rest weren't upto the mark. Main course includes Veg biriyani, steamed rice, panneer butter masala, navrathan curry, boiled potato, Pappad, raitha, noodles, green curry, rasam etc. for a change main course was quite good. No complaints. Dessert include gulab jamun, Rasmalai, brownie cake, orange mousy cake, strawberry cheese cake, mango pastry, icecream, etc. all were good. No complaints

Good food with great variety. The taste was good, but not as amazing as I would have expected. The menu has a good variety with a good number of South Indian options. The one less star is for the attitude of the managers and staff. They're not very hospitable and quite often, rude.

I’ve visited the place ( Kilpauk, Near Nehru Park Metro) ( Easy access )on 15th Mar’25 for a dinner with my wife & 3yr old son. We really had a great experience with the food varieties and taste. Especially my son liked the almond broccoli soup which he had tasted for the 1st time. Their vazhthakuzhambu was excellent. North Indian cuisines were absolutely mouth watering. Starters especially the BBQ & American crispy corn & Beetroot tikki were out of the world. Desserts needs a special appreciation as my son tasted his 1st Red velvet cake!! Spl thanks to the Chef Mr. Nathan & his colleague Mr.K7 ( Kesavan) who treated us with the great hospitality. Subh has provided and were checking on us what’s needs to be served (hot) at regular intervals. Overall, it’s economically feasible and no compromise on the taste part. Place was feel good and the cutlery’s were absolutely perfect.

24 may 2025 Kilpauk outlet. The Mango Fest is a must-try—innovative, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! Standout dishes included the Mango Kimchi, Mango Berry Salad, and Mango Pattasu Sundal, all bursting with unique, tasty flavors. The Pallipalayam Mushroom and Achari Paneer Grills were smoky and perfectly spiced, while the Cheesy Potato was a comforting delight. If you love bold, smoky BBQ notes, the Grilled Zucchini with Mango Glaze is a winner. For dessert, the Mango Duet rounded off the meal beautifully. Special shoutout to  Mr. Kesavan for curating this fantastic mango festival and to Mr. Danush for the attentive service. Pros:  Tasty & Innovative Menu – Fresh, creative mango-infused dishes.  Great Service – Friendly and efficient staff.  High-Quality Ingredients – No bloating or heaviness post-meal. Suggestions for Management:  Reintroduce Butterscotch Ice Cream – It’s missed!  Enhance Toppings – Add crunchy caramel, caramel syrup, figs, or honey for extra indulgence . Verdict: A delightful culinary experience—don’t miss the Mango Fest! Thank you team. Images added 13th Dec 2024 I am upgrading my rating. They are running pan Asia festival.
